Hotel San Michele is located in the historic center of L'Aquila, a very short distance from the main artistic monuments. In just a few minutes it is possible to walk to all the city's landmarks: the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio, Piazza del Duomo, the 15th-century Basilica of San Bernardino da Siena, Piazza Palazzo, and the Spanish Fort. The Fountain of the 99 Cannelle just 1.5 kilometers from the hotel. A quick drive is sufficient to reach other wonderful places in the surrounding area: the Convent of San Giuliano on the city's first outskirts, the Sanctuary of the Madonna d'Appari in Paganica, and the Oratory of San Pellegrino in Bominaco. Hotel San Michele is a privileged starting point for visiting the picturesque villages of Navelli, Capestrano, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Castel del Monte and Calascio with its magnificent medieval fortress. Equally easily accessible are the naturalistic beauties in the surrounding area: the Stiffe Caves, Lake Campotosto, the Gran Sasso massif, Campo Imperatore and the Altopiano delle Rocche . All the major ski resorts in the area, Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore and Ovindoli, are not far from the hotel.
